As part of its diligent efforts in the education sector across Pakistan, Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA), along with its development partners, joined the teaching fraternity to celebrate World Teacher’s Day 2016. Celebrations were held across ten districts.
This year’s World Teachers Day themed under the umbrella of SGD 4 to “Ensure Inclusive and Equitable Quality Education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all” was celebrated in the presence of students, teachers, government officials, teacher trainers, Teachers Without Frontiers (TWF) fellows and other multiple stakeholders. Educations walks with placards were held by participants in various districts to gratify the role of teachers in our society. Placards signposted as ‘#teachers matter’ were held by students during education walks to gratify the role of teachers
Alongside, two mega events took place in Karachi and Lahore on 5th and 8th October, respectively. The mega events featured panelist discussions which encapsulated teacher’s multifaceted role in not only providing quality education but also providing assistance in other themes of Agenda 2030 such as awareness on hygiene for a healthy population and inducing norms of gender equality, citizenship, peace and justice amongst the young populace. Furthermore, Fellows from “Teachers without Frontiers” shared their teaching experiences in contributing to bring change in their communities. The sessions aimed at applauding the struggle, contribution and achievements of the teachers and highlighted their concerns and priorities because they are on the driving seats of guiding our children and youth.
