ITA was formed and registered in June 2000. ITA's primary
focus is comprehensive education reform. Working
through a sector wide approach, ITA works across public
sector, low cost private schools and most recently
madrassahs.
The theme of GAW 2013 is on “Every Child Needs a Teacher” – as part of Global Campaign for Education (GCE)’s Every Child Needs a Teacher campaign.
Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA), in collaboration with Dubai Cares, shall be celebrating Global Action Week 2013 in target districts whereby politicians, district government education officials, representatives of teachers’ union and other civil society local organizations, shall participate – a call to all stakeholders to complement each others’ efforts in order to quickly ensure quality education for every child irrespective of gender.
TAKING ACTION – BECOMING PART OF THE CAMPAIGN
The format will be same as suggested by GCE, a lesson on importance of trained teachers will be organized at school. A politician or district government official from education department will be invited in school to talk about gap in trained teachers in schools.
During the lesson, students will be engaged in poster making and essay writing competition.
The teacher asks the following questions:
Which lessons and activities do you like most at school?
What does your teacher do during these lessons and activities?
Children can answer by:
Drawing a picture of their favorite activities and showing what the teacher is doing, and the alternative if there is no teacher
Working in groups to come up with a group picture of all the different fun things they enjoy at school and showing what the teacher is doing, and the alternative if there is no teacher
Writing an essay on “How Teacher teaches us in School”

Selection Criteria / Categories of participation of students:
There shall be two categories as below:
For Primary School
Junior Student (Nursery to Grade 2)
Senior Student (Grade 3 to Grade 5)
For Elementary School
Junior Student (Nursery to Grade 2
Senior Student – Primary level (Grade 3 to Grade 5)
Senior Student – Elementary level (Grade 6 to Grade 8)
20 selected students from Nursery to grade 2 and 20 students from grade 3 to 5, shortlisted by Head Teacher and other teachers, will participate.
Plan for Competition:

A total of 20 schools will selected at tehsil level divided into 04 clusters.

Poster & Essay Competitions will be held at school level from April 16-17, 2013
2a. 05 best posters/essays from each category will be selected from each school to be presented at cluster level ceremony

Cluster level ceremony will be held on April 18 or 19, 2013

At the end of cluster level ceremony at each cluster, students under the supervision of their teachers and community members shall organize a walk for education. Special focus shall be given on new enrollments (of children aged 3-4 plus).
Members of students’ club, trained on girls’ rights and importance of education, with their teachers and parents, shall visit their Out of School friends to mainstream them back into the school.
