Public Private Partnerships

Concept of Corporate Social Responsibility refers to the continuing commitment by corporate entities to behave ethically and contribute to the economic development of the country they operate in. The objective is to not only improve the quality of life of the workforce and their families but also to benefit the society at large. Promoting vigorously Public Private Partnerships, Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aaghai has been striving to bridge the gap between the corporate and the community using Corporate Social Responsibility as a framework. ITA’s collaboration with Unilever has been a part of these efforts.

Message by ITA
"UNILEVER initiated support to ITA in knowledge creation on Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) in education at the recnetly held International Conference "Local Governance Texts and Contexts Perspectives from South Asia". UNILEVER sponsored the session on PPP. A beginning has been made in CSR. ITA is proud of this association with the englightened leadership of UNILEVER.

The company demonstrate it commitment by supporting social development programs that improves the quality of life, particularly of the under-privileged. In the area of education, while the company also partners with leading institutes of excellence that provide professional degrees, the main thrust of the initiative has always been on development of primary education. For this very reason Unilever entered into public private partnership supporting government schools to help improve the quality of education

Public Private Partnership (PPP) – To Promote Quality Sustainable Education
A Collaboration between Unilever & Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA)

Unilever and ITA signed an MoU on August 1st 2007 for the period ending December 31st, 2007 for an initial period of 6 months. ITA has agreed to collaborate with UPL in the further implementation of the Whole School Improvement  Program as a technical mediator to strategically collaborate with school/s to put in place suitable mechanisms and systems to ensure the sustainability of the whole school improvement. 

The project envisages to bring Unilever and ITA Public Trust together in a partnership that is based on the understanding that the corporate sector has financial resources, management skills and the desire to invest in Social Sector development programs and seeks support from expert organizations to effectively engage and manage institutional and grassroots level interventions for optimizing the value chain for CSR in the education sector. .
