SAFE Internet and Outreach Programme

About the Programme

Telenor Pakistan, in collaboration with Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi has been educating the children of Pakistan on the Safe use of Internet through their 'SAFE Internet and Outreach Programme' over the past 3 years. The programme aims to create awareness and reduce the chances of online risks that the children may be subjected to.

The objectives of the programme include:

  •  Promoting Child Online Protection and safe on-line behaviour of children through creating awareness and building capacity in online protection.
  •  Sensitizing and enhancing the capacity of project staff, teachers, and students on child on line protection.
  •  Ensuring that relevant government departments and stakeholders are more sensitized and mobilized on the importance of child online protection and they take up tools to address it.

The programme aims to educate approximately 175,000 children (between the ages of 9-15 years) & 11,500 teachers in Public & Private schools across all provinces of Pakistan through:

  •  Training Sessions conducted in Schools (Online training sessions in online schools during this time of lockdown)
  •  DigiWorld – A super fun and interactive game developed by Telenor that allows children, teachers & parents to test their online knowledge!

Upon completion of the trainings & Report generation, the Organizations’ will focus on Engagement & Advocacy with provincial government for adding SAFE in curriculum.

DigiWorld Campaign: 20th April – 20th May

Due to the recent COVID-19 situation, schools have been closed down. This means that it is impossible to conduct training sessions in schools by physically visiting them. Therefore, ITA has developed a digital strategy which involves using social media platforms to maximize engagements and increase the impact of the protect. They have decided to run a campaign for their game i.e. DigiWorld.

The campaign, launched on Monday, 20th April goes by the name of ‘TwentyFourTwenty’ and its Motto is 'Be Smart Use Heart'. It is based around 6 major themes, which include:

  •  Cyberbullying & Trolling
  •  Hate speech & Fake News
  •  Privacy & Information Security
  •  Cyber Security & Fraud
  •  Reporting
  •  Health & Well-being
