ITA launches awareness campaign
'Corona Saviours'

Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA) has launched a public awareness campaign for Prevention against Coronavirus under the title ‘Corona Saviours'. The campaign, targeting the age groups 8-18 and 19-30, is aimed at mobilizing children and youth for giving powerful information for preventing Corona. Corona Saviours are actively spreading the messages for behaviour change during the COVID19 crisis affecting us everywhere in our homes, community and neighbourhoods. Advancing Action for Adolescent Girls - Siyani Sahelian |

The British High Commission (BHC) and the UK's Department for International Development (DFID) in partnership with ITA hosted a discussion and marketplace event titled "Leave No Girl Behind: Scaling up What Works for Adolescent Girls in Pakistan" at Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA), Islamabad on March 13, 2020. Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Mr. Shafqat Mahmood was chief guest on the occasion. |
The ‘learning and pledging’ event brought together relevant stakeholders and representatives from government, development partners, industry, civil society and media to share lessons learnt from the DFID-funded Siyani Sahelian initiative implemented by ITA that aims to tackle gender inequality for disadvantaged out of school adolescent girls (aged 9-19) in three districts of South Punjab – Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan. |

Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) |

ASER Pakistan has launched its annual ASER Report 2019 revealing the latest educational statistics in Pakistan. After the successful National, Punjab and Sindh launches, ASER 2019 report was launched in Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) that has the highest number of children enrolled in schools.

|
According to ASER 2019 survey, only 3% of children aged 6-16 were reported to be out of school in AJK which has decreased as compared to 5% in 2018. The report was launched by AJK Education Minister Mr. Iftikhar Gillani, parliamentarians across political parties and media experts on March 10, 2020. |

Defeat Corona with Books – CLF Online Book Club
CLF has created an Online Book Club in view of the Coronavirus pandemic where CLF team meets every Thursday on a WhatsApp group to read and share books for children. The book club has storytellers in Urdu, English and many regional languages who read and share the stories for children, including those written by the young authors. ITA and Oxfam in Pakistan are working on a girls’ education campaign titled ‘Alif Say Uraan’. The campaign highlights ongoing challenges that keep girls from their fundamental entitlements of learning, access to well-equipped schools equitable financing, lack of transportation, security and a severe shortage of schools at middle and secondary levels. The campaign aims to establish the demand for improved enrolment and allocation of resources for the education of girls across Pakistan.
A door to door campaign for Alif Say Uraan was carried out in Multan while murals were painted on the shops of local influencers, the agents for change!

International Women's Day 2020 |

On March 8, 2020, ITA teams participated in Women’s Day Marches held across the country and raised their voice for the education and empowerment of women. |
|
|
|
|
CLF Kitab Gari also had its stall at the First Women Festival held in Alhamra Arts Council to mark the occasion. ITA and CLF celebrated women authors and poets by doing lovely readings from children's literature written by them. Children wrote messages for their favorite women, made speeches for their rights and performed various role plays. |
|
US Consul General in Lahore Catherine Rodriguez visited Kitab Gari and appreciated the efforts made by ITA and CLF to promote the love for learning. |
|
|
On March 23, 2020 – Pakistan Resolution Day – ITA expressed its commitment to a better and educated Pakistan. Together we can take Pakistan out of the Coronavirus crisis by staying at homes and taking precautionary measures. |
