Learning about computers has always been a dream of mine. I have 3 brothers and my father is a carriage driver. It is not always steady money and because of lack of resources I only got an education till Matric.
I learnt about the WordPress course being offered for young girls through my neighbors. I have always wanted to learn about computers and have previously only used them to watch videos. With this course, now was my chance.
Over the course of 4 months, I have learnt the use of MS Office, Internet searching/browsing, making an email account and subsequent use and creating a website through the medium of WordPress. Learning about website development was my favorite part. It is so exciting to be able to build something from scratch that requires the perfect amount of creativity and coding. There was not one thing that I did not like about this course.
My family has been a big support system for me and have always pushed me to gain new skills and learn new things. My mother is a housewife, and she is very excited to know what I have learnt each day.
One day, I hope to become a web-developer and earning an income from it to make a contribution to my family income.
I feel these skills are very important in today’s world. I hope to teach my brothers and young girls from my community all that I know about coding.
