My father was a gardener at the rangers and retired some time back. I have done my BA and after that had to leave my studies. After dropping out I learnt the skill of hand embroidery as I do not like sitting idle. My family is very supportive, but we have many mouths to feed and with little family income coming in, life is not always easy.
The ITA team came over to our house one day to tell us about the skill set of WordPress being offered in partnership with CIRCLE Women. They convinced my family to let me join the program. My previous computer use was limited to listening to songs.
I have loved coming to classes for the last 4 months and learning all types of new computer skills that I never thought I would get a chance to do. I can now create pages and websites. It is very exciting work. These skills are going to help me get a job because they are relevant to the requirements of the times.
Everything is digital today; we live in a digital world if we don’t start learning these skills we cannot be connected to this world.
I strife for independence and hope to use the skills I learnt here to explore opportunities in the freelancing world.
